Dr. Murphy and Dr. Erik utilize several chiropractic techniques to bring about pain relief, including: Diversified Spinal Manipulation, Gonstead Technique (both hands on), Cox Flexion-Distraction Technique, and Thompson Drop Technique. For those patients who either do not want hands-on manipulation or can not tolerate it, we offer low-force instrument-assisted spinal manipulation and other therapies to best treat your condition.

Preparing for your First Appointment

If you have scheduled your first appointment, congratulations on taking a proactive step towards improving your health and mobility! To make the most of your initial visit, it’s essential to come prepared. Here are some tips to help get you ready for your appointment:

  • Obtain and organize your medical information

Before your appointment, gather any relevant medical records, diagnostic test results, and reports related to your condition. This includes X-rays, MRI/CT scans, surgery records, or notes from other healthcare providers you have seen. Having this information readily available will help the Doctors gain a better understanding of your medical history and guide your treatment plan.

  • Dress comfortably

Please wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Depending on your condition and the type of treatment you will receive, you may need to expose the area being treated. For example, if you are seeking treatment for a knee injury, wearing shorts or athletic pants would be appropriate. However, if needed, gowns are available to wear.

  • Be prepared to discuss your symptoms

The Doctors will want to hear about your symptoms, including when they started, the type and intensity of pain or discomfort that you are experiencing, and any factors that worsen or alleviate your symptoms. Be prepared to provide a detailed description of your symptoms, including their location, frequency, and any activities that are affected by them.

  • Bring your identification and insurance information

If you have health insurance coverage, please bring your insurance card and any necessary documentation, such as a referral, to your appointment. If you were in an accident, please bring all relevant information, such as hospital records and attorney information. We accept most insurance companies as well as motor vehicle accident and workers’ compensation claims. Our staff will handle the insurance billing for you and is here to guide you through the process. For patients who have little or no chiropractic insurance coverage, we will be more than happy to work with you to arrange a payment program.

  • Arrive early

Please plan to arrive at your appointment a few minutes early to complete necessary  paperwork and allow time for check-in. Being punctual shows respect for your Doctor’s time and allows for a complete and unhurried assessment during your appointment.

  • The appointment

After checking in and filling out all the necessary paperwork, the Doctor will perform a complete and comprehensive exam with you. If the Doctor deems it appropriate, X-rays may be taken in the office. Be prepared to undergo physical therapy and receive your first adjustment.
